Spreadsheets

Planners built on the same maths as the calculators

The calculators on this site answer one question at a time. These spreadsheets are for the ongoing plan: year-by-year projections, scenario testing, the drawdown years, and a monthly record of whether you are actually on track. Every figure reconciles with the free tools.

How they work

Questions

Do I need Microsoft Excel?

No. Everything works in free Google Sheets, and in Apple Numbers. Only standard spreadsheet functions are used.

Why buy one if the calculators are free?

The calculators answer a question in ten seconds. The spreadsheets are for the plan you keep: projections year by year, scenarios side by side, the drawdown phase, and a monthly log of whether reality matches the plan. If the free tools answer everything you need, use those, they are not going anywhere.

Which edition should I pick?

Start free. If you want your own assumptions and a projection, Essentials. If you want the drawdown model and the Coast FIRE grid, Ultimate. If you are in the UK or Australia, take that country edition instead, because the local account rules change the answer.

Is this financial advice?

No. These are calculation tools for education. They cannot know your tax position, debts or risk tolerance. For decisions about your own money speak to a qualified professional in your jurisdiction. See our method and who builds these.
